Author Topic: Interior vs. terrain  (Read 2044 times)

Why doesn't the Slate map use a terrain? Why invisible interior? Does it speed up the loading? Pros/cons?

How do you make invisible terrain?

Well yeah, but how about generally? I mean putting the wanted texture on the terrain rather than water. Why not? It would allow people to download the texture if the option is on.

Terrain files are generally too much for a typical blockland host.  Even if it is just flat, it's still quite a bit to download.  It still has to for another texture.

Shouldn't the terrain file load faster if the terrain is completely flat? And I've never had trouble downloading terrain files, yeah it takes roughly 2 minutes, but it's not that much of a big deal. I'm just thinking that the pros here are bigger than the cons. Longer load times yes, but you can download the texture rather than seeing a horrible default water texture.

That's one reason why RTB content downloading will be nice.
