They made and item that was worth 192 gp is now worth 75k after one day for no apparent reason, and no telltale signs of it about to rise. Everyone now has about 5B. I've already quit.

Runescape has no economy, money is unlimited. Even zombies carry around 4 gold pieces for some reason, as if they were going to buy something.

Item: Climbing boots. (now rock climbing boots) The players do normally control the economy, but not in this case. cigaretteex raised it right up from 192 or 162 (cant remember) to 75,000. People can alch them for 55k or so. Even I had 50 of them! And that's not much.. most people had at least 500 or 600. That's 60m. There is no economy now, so I'm playing a new server that's runescape back in the good old days. The training is slow enough (but not agonisingly so) and it was written from scratch so it's not copyrighted. :D
