The shield will protect it so you can get there.

Pretty sure shield doesn't protect against saps and still, YOU can easily get killed while trying to wrangle.

Edit: The shield goes off when you're not wrangling and seconds after you stop wrangling the sentry is defenseless.

Guitar is not a melee unlock. If it is you probably can't repair/upgrade, so you're a useless loving moron and need to stop using up an engineer slot.

That's all I can think of because the wrench is a vital part of playing engineer, so I highly doubt they're making a replacement for that.
