If your items actually did go away, you'll receive the Southern Hospitality as if it dropped for you when the crafting server comes back up. That is, once it does, you'll get your item the next time you die.

IMO, the wrangler serves the exact same purpose as the pistol but does it better. I always used to pistol to attack players out of the range of my sentry's vision. Now I can just make my sentry do it, and much more effectively.
