Author Topic: Help with photoshop anyone?  (Read 588 times)

I need help on photoshop. Let's say I have a square:

and a circle:

I want to put the circle on the square and cut out everything around the circle, leaving a blue circle. How is this possible?

And don't say "Draw a circle on the square and cut it out", 'cause that's not what I need. I need this to work with any kind of shape, such as a bird, and I want a blue bird out of the blue square.

Color the red circle blue.  :cookieMonster:

But seriously. Halp plox.

Edit:

Pretend the square has stripes on it. How do I get the stripes on the circle?

I know how to in CorelDRAW, but not photoshop.

I know how to in Paint.NET, The GIMP and InkScape, but not photoshop.

Ok, I'll even go for paint.net

In Paint.NET:

Paste the red circle in a layer on top of the blue square.

Use the wand to select the red.

Move the blue layer to the top, keeping the red selected.

Ctrl+Shift+X to crop to selection.

Delete the red layer.

In Paint.NET:

Paste the red circle in a layer on top of the blue square.

Use the wand to select the red.

Move the blue layer to the top, keeping the red selected.

Ctrl+Shift+X to crop to selection.

Delete the red layer.

The help guide for Paint.net I find is very helpful, just like that.

Thanks much! This worked perfect ;D

Another way to do it would be to make the circle white and the area around the circle black, put it on another layer and use it as a layer mask. This is a very important skill. It makes it much easier to go back and make adjustments. Take your pick of tutorials. In fact, this tutorial here uses your very example of a circle.
