Amazon is always good for dated hardware.
http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-64-Controller-Original-Gray/dp/B000PJHAD6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1278307783&sr=8-1

Disregard the reviews if they bother you, most of them are related to the fact that the technology is dated and that the joysticks wear down after a few years.
Basically people reviewing them as if they were brand-new.

Back of the disk,
Wash first,
Tap dry a bit,
Put a bit of toothpaste on,
Smear over the back of the disk,
Wash off,
Tap dry first, then dry with a towel (NOT A RUFF ONE! It will make it even worse.), and the back probably got wet too, so dry that too.

This is how I got my friends THUG2 back to work.
Works 85% of the time. Worth a try anyways.

What kind of toothpaste?

The data is on the silver part o:
Yeah.
We've gone over this.

What kind of toothpaste?
Any toothpaste is ok, except crystals. You'll see them in it. If you can't, it's ok.

If you live in the UK, go to gamestation or gamestop, they either give you a new disk, or repair it for you.

Guys, the toothpaste forgeted up the disk even more. I can't even use mapmaker or story mode. Or anything without it giving me that error. (1st post)

I wouldnt have tried either one if I was you, but if I was forced I would have used the banana, not the toothpaste :/

Is softmodding and installing a game that you own, but doesn't work, illegal?

EDIT:No, I meant, Can you softmod a GC with action replay, install a game that you own and be safe? I own the game (TS2)

But you couldn't get the data in any legal way.
