Author Topic: What the hell is wrong with my ping AGAIN?!  (Read 2487 times)

Well, my internet problems are back and worse then ever. I joined an internet server on TF2, and looked at other people's ping. The MOST I saw from someone else was 105. Guess what my minimum was? It was in the 500s. For most of the time, it stayed at 900+, and rarely went down. The other players were amazed at this, so I need to make a topic here.

1. My internet connection is wireless
2. Nobody else in the household was using their computers
3. TF2 was the only program up
4. My connection strength is averaged at 3 out of 5 bars
5. No I'm not downloading research at the same time

Goddamn, you got this all figured out.

This happens to me on CS:S

Sometimes this happens to me too, just unplug it and plug it in again. If that doesn't work make sure you are connected to the right network. Mine will occasionally connect to my neighbors network.

Counter it with Pong.

Close your background programs, the little arrow in your star bar... yeah click it, and right click everything and hit close, exit cancel etc

Next Control - shift - escape    Processes, close everything it looks like you don't need

That wouldn't affect your ping.

A torrent in my torrent program, even if it's not active, will raise my ping in TF2 to ~600
