Author Topic: Halo 2 and 3 local AI's?  (Read 2848 times)

Alright... this is gonna sound stupid. And useless. And freaky. And most of you aren't going to listen nor believe me. But hear me out.

Me and Squiggles have been playing the Halo series for some years. And theres some... odd things that happen when we play local multiplayer. About 4 or so years ago, me and Squiggles were playing Halo 2 on the map Midship. We were just jacking around, throwing grenades and raising general hell. You know, being gamers. I guess. Anyway, I was standing on the edge of the platform that wobbles when you land on it and shoot it. We were laughing over a joke that I'm drawing a blank on, and suddenly, I stopped dead. He was confused at first, and when he looked at me, I was horrified, staring at the screen. In front of me, standing in the hallway, pointing towards my friend who was around the corner and out of sight, was a blue elite, holding a plasma rifle. He was looking at me sideways, before he slowly looked forward, and ran towards Squiggles. I instantly told him to turn around. He, confused as ever, turns around, to see nothing. Eventually, I find him and explain. He doesn't believe me, as expected from most sane humans. He runs off and I run away in search of the strange AI that was apparently running rampant. He suddenly stops dead, yells, and runs after me, claiming that he had seen a completely black spartan holding a battle rifle, standing right around the corner that he had turned.

I stuff you not, we've been looking around for these things for the last few years, and have seen much of the black spartan among many others, often, and regularly, except for the blue elite that seems to elude us. This is always off line, with just me and him playing. There has been a large amount of sightings of these strange things. Even earlier tonight I've seen a few things, and Squiggles has seen the black spartan. We have seen them with numerous armor types and weapons, although the spartan is usually using a battle rifle or shotgun with standard armor.

For example, we once started a round to mess around on Epitaph on Halo 3. The moment we spawn, both me and Squiggles swear up and down that neither of us threw the grenade that exploded right in front of us as soon as we spawned. It was freaky. That, and we for some reason spawned right beside eachother.

Even if you believe us or not, it could be our imaginations, but from what we understand, there is local AI among us. Questions, comments?

Sounds like a haunted story.
A fictional story.

Video tape that stuff and peeps will believe.

One of my friends said that he was playing on a really dark TV and when he sniper scoped over a certain part he could see a sort of shadow of a spartan.

Might be the Ghosts of Halo

A.k.a., people joining your server and having lag issues with their connection or something

Might be the Ghosts of Halo

These are always local Xbox games. We've never gone online and seen these.

Also, to everyone else who demands pictures and video, ever tried to take a picture of something thats up for less then two seconds, and taking a good quality video of a TV in fast motion with a stuffty camera?

Me and Squiggles will see what we can do.

I wish they didn't shut off live for original xbox's

they should have at least made a free unsupported version so people could keep playing  besides I had more fun on original xbox live then I ever will on the 360

edit: I never thought an AI would be so scary just watched the original video

edit: is XBConnect legal and does it still work on the original xbox?

This is creepy crap.
Ghost of Lockout
A video, made by "Anti Noob", uploaded by "AfRoSaUcE", and described earlier in this article, was uploaded to YouTube on July 28, 2006. The video shows two players (Anti Noob and "The Underdogg") playing a Custom Game on Halo 2's map Lockout over Xbox Live.
In the first part of the video, The Underdogg went to go eat, leaving his controller unattended. Anti Noob decided to "jump around" while he waited. As The Underdogg left, Anti Noob crouched and walked into a wall. As soon as he turned around, he saw that The Underdogg had been stuck with a Plasma Grenade. After the resulting explosion occurred, an unidentified white Spartan glided to the corpse and threw another grenade, seemingly without noticing Anti Noob.
The second, third, and fourth parts of the video all show the "ghost" sticking Anti Noob with grenades, with one part showing The Underdogg also being stuck again.
The final part of the video shows Anti Noob fleeing from the ghost. When Anti Noob was eventually cornered, he decided to hide behind a Fusion Core. The ghost glided past him. When Anti Noob shifted to the side to check whether the ghost was still there, he saw that the ghost was right behind the Core. Panicking, Anti Noob backed up behind the Core, accidentally knocking it over. The resulting lack of an explosion allowed the ghost to -- once again -- stick Anti Noob with a grenade.
In the video's description, AfRoSaUcE speculates that the "ghost" was a third player that had been affected by a network glitch. He states that such a network glitch would have prevented Anti Noob and The Underdogg from witnessing all of the hypothetical third player's actions; the third person would have seen himself walking, but the other two players saw him slide. The glitch also gave this hypothetical third player invincibility; some attribute the perfect grenade sticks to the glitch, but (assuming that the "network glitch" explanation is correct) the third player could have just been an expert with grenades.

he already posted a link to that, nice copy paste

video: not the original upload but the same video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWLxfpS3Nyg

other sights are similar, different videos

1. ghost not showing up in server list
2. can be on local servers
3. player does not show the 'walking animation', but glides

theories

1 network lag highly unlikely
2 bungie workers found out you were hacking and trying to scare you - most sightings  happen after someone trys to hack
3. an AI glitch from the single player game somehow being spawned in multiplayer - only idea that would work for a local server

This is what happens when you enter... The Twilight Zone

Thank you. I pasted that for those who don't bother clicking links.
I also posted it because I thought it was interesting.
