Botting makes your food cheap, runes cheap, and steadies the economy of Runescape. Without them, there would be no more inflation of common items that they create (fish, runes, ores, etc.) Everything would cost more if they were gone. Jagex doesn't ban alot really, they rollback now.

They did start to ban a ton of them a while ago, which along with the G.E. caused the economy to crash.

You get banned for that. Botting pisses me off because I am forced to talk to the annoying runescape players occasionally so they know I am not botting.

But you aren't forced. You're forcing yourself because you care what people think.
It's not as if you can get banned for not talking to people.

Bots tend to do things really mechanically. A granite mining botter dropped his granite about a whole minute after his inventory was full, and before then, kept moving from granite rock to granite rock with his inventory full.

Also, I read Runescape's facebook update on the poll; this sums up the comments:

BOTS ARE RUINING THE GAME! DO SOMETHING!

no, it inflates coins. so you need 10k'th/1 more then you did before to buy the same thing.
and your logic is lost when this coin inflation affects non bottable items as well.

I never talked about coin inflation. Items are being inflated. There are more items than people want, which makes the price drop.

I stopped playing a while ago, due to World of Warcraft, a game with an actual class system, a magic system that's not awful, and tons of professions to level. Not to mention that you can actually move around (and get on mounts and flying mounts) freely without having to click on the ground. :s
