The only items you are allowed to obtain are ones given to you by NPCs, ones you obtain yourself through using skills, killing monsters, or finding them on the ground, and ones you receive from other players in the challenge. You may not purchase any items from NPCs, no matter the currency (e.g. Runecrafting Tokens, Fist of Guthix Tokens), and you may not trade with other players outside of the challenge (this includes using the G.E.). Gold coins are fine to have, since you can use them to balance the trade with other players participating in the challenge.
