Author Topic: Long Story!- I got hit by a Sasser Worm today...  (Read 4046 times)

to sarataz (and no im not quotaing that with parentheses)

Programs can't literally "load into your RAM". They can use up RAM sure but as far as I know programs can't literally make your RAM infectious or anything. They can corrupt it too though.

I have used XP since 2004 and in my time haven't heard of Security essentials being actually ON Windows XP, not even on my school laptop.

And you CAN install just important updates you know without security essentials which also tell you to not only install updates but to have your own Anti-Virus.

Alright i was wrong I'll admit on that.

I have used XP since 2004 and in my time haven't heard of Security essentials being actually ON Windows XP, not even on my school laptop.

And I'm going to have to correct you on that, it can be done because at my IT shop class we set all of out computers with Security essentials, But I'm not going to argue with you over text on how this worm virus was loaded into my computer during it's start up. Because if I'm not in your face physically, then it's pointless to me.

To general nick (and no im not quoteing with that gay duck),

Yet there is always a smart-ass. and no, when i ment it was loaded into my RAM, i really mean the worm was really taking it's time loading into my RAM.

Also, like i said if you read my story, which by your sharped-toned comment, i don't think you have.  You would have know i had update my computer because i was using Microsoft Security Essentils. If im not mistaken, they do require you to download some pretty important updates (incliudeing the ones that prevent viruses coming in your computer you jack ass) just to install the security suite
You have absolutely no idea what a worm does, do you?

Quote from: Wikipedia
Sasser is a computer worm that affects computers running vulnerable versions of the Microsoft  operating systems Windows XP and Windows 2000. Sasser spreads by exploiting the system through a vulnerable network port (as do certain other worms). Thus it is particularly virulent in that it can spread without user intervention, but it is also easily stopped by a properly configured firewall or by downloading system updates from Windows Update. The specific hole Sasser exploits is documented by Microsoft in its MS04-011 bulletin, for which a patch had been released seventeen days earlier.

Let me make it clear for you:

i already had my all my nesscarry update's installed from what i know, and i was using ZoneAlarm which is pretty trustworthy.

Also, i read about what this virus was, all you could have done was ask me about it and i would have told you about it :), but yet why are you jack-asses so worried on how i got rid of the virus? You can call me a noob on viruses yea because i am, but i can't be but so much of a noob because i got rid of it. Now i got stuff to do, so i'll be back later to post.

Sorry. i gave you a virus.  :cookieMonster:

It's a worm, Not a virus. They both do different things.

But the method i used to break through the worm was the Ctrl+r>shutdown -a method. You really have to do it quick before the worm is fully loaded into RAM. It took me like 50 tires just to disable it for 5 minutes. Then it would come up again.

you were trying to fight it by continually trying to abort shutdown?

HAHAHAHAHAHA

If it would have been me, I would have booted into linux, accessed my hard drive, and quarantined the problem files

In my IT class
That must be a piss poor class or you really suck if you have trouble handling a virus.

Go to run. type in Shutdown -a

This whill terminate the shutdown. I believe this is not realy a Sasser Worm. Its just Malware generated by a kid thats getting new to Viruses, and you where stupid enough to download it. If the kid was smart enough, he/she would automaticly add it to the registry to make you very screwed.
Hold on....This is just a normal shutdown program. You got it off of youtube on "How to make a Trojan Virus"Damn kids think there cool for making a shutdown virus. That Virus you call a "Sasser Worm" is a attempt to make everyone worked up. Go learn to make REAL viruses.

I had my suspicions about that, but you really cant tell because its easy for a virus to invoke the shutdown command.

Viruses are not programed for such stuff. Viruses now are not ment to just shutdown the system, instead its just to steal data.

Look at this (The so called "How to make a Trojan Virus.): How to make a Trojan Virus in less in 3 minutes

Viruses forget stuff up.
Spyware steals data
Adware fakes being a product to get your credit card number
Worms infect your network to spread out

This is a great story :D

It may be about a virus, but it was worth reading.
I GOT HIT BY A SASSER WORM! NOW A MOTION PICTURE!

SPYWARE'S SAPPIN' MAH SENTRY!

I GOT HIT BY A SASSER WORM! NOW A MOTION PICTURE!
I Lol'd

I probably got hit by some small Trojan virus or something (I really didn't know at the time.)

You mean you got hit by a condom?
