Author Topic: Disk Games vs Games on Demand  (Read 2726 times)

Which do you think is better? Buying a disk copy of a game for your Xbox 360 or downloading it for the same price?

I'm stuck on this. I want to get Saint Rows 2 for $20 on Games on Demand for the 360 but I've heard that downloaded games from it are slower. Is this true?

For me, No. But it could be true for you if you dont have alot of space.
Also you usually need atleast 5gb for most GOD(inb4greatoverdeemer) games though.

Downloaded games are much faster then being read from a disc.

This is why I installed l4d on my Hard Drive so it uses little amount of the disc.

I have like 101GB of freespace on my Xbox.

Buy on the disc. Games on demand takes a hell of alot of time.

Discs scratch and by a hell of alot of time do you mean download or load times?

Load times are faster from the hard drive and quieter than a disc

Get better internet

Downloaded games can't be returned and take up hard drive space, Disks scratch and break, and might be corrupt   if a downloaded game is corrupt you can just re-download it... depends on your personal style, I personally like disks cause in 50 years they might be worth something for those collectors

discs scratch.

Take care of your loving discs and they won't.

The average american home has faster internet than my government. I'll take discs, thanks.

This is as a general rule; I used a workaround to install Red Faction: Guerrilla into Steam (installing it from my friend's disc, then copying it into steamapps/common/ and telling Steam to verify its game files) because downloading games off Steam is sloooooow. I still haven't installed most of the games I own on it despite having barely under a terabyte of space left.

Sometimes when I buy a game, i'm like: "Aw forget i need the disc. Like why cant it be without it's loving installed on my computer"
It just confuses me. It's just plain annoying in my eyes.

I'm a very materialistic person and enjoy game cases and such(I take care of my discs, they don't get that scratched, so that's not a problem), but downloaded titles are nice and convenient.

When it comes down to it though, if I could either go buy a game disc or download it, I'd go buy the disc.
