Author Topic: Six Core Processors  (Read 3691 times)

Can a computer even read six cores? Is it actually "the fastest processor in the world" or is it just a gimmick? Well I'll never know since you have to mortgage your house to afford one.

You can get a Phenom II X6 1090T for 300 dollars, its not that expensive. Also I doubt many applications would use the processor to its full power

Six core processors are impractical in a gaming environment because no games use more than 3 cores. On the other hand, each core of a processor can be assigned to a different tasks. This makes them useful in home servers and individuals who do professional movie or photo work.

Yes, they are the fastest processors but generally not because they have six cores. When a new processor comes out it's 'operations per second' is usually updated as well.

Yes, the 980x is the fastest processor but it's price is set too high. Some reasons for this are that the processor is hyper-threaded which would total to 12 threads and 6 cores. Another reason for the cost is the unlocked multiplier which might help for overclocking.

what, what, and more what? I'm quite sure it's four.

Either way, having more cores will allow you to smoothly run more than one program.

I wonder how many Crysis needs

58. I can barely run that game on medium settings.

If you get one, you should buy a T1 connection.

You know what game calls out a lot of resources? GTA4. I know I pass the recomended settings, but it's so poorly optimized for the pc that it lags like there's no tomorrow. I have to turn it to almost the bare minimum settings with a draw distance of like 25.

EDIT: I also only play GTA4 because of the ragdoll physics. Jumping out of helicopters is fun.

fiberoptic is the fastest available actually

Is it bad if I already feel outdated with a Q9650 and DDR2 1066?

:(

What about Fiberoptic T1? That'd be loving epic.

I dont see the use of a 6 core D:

I still have a single core processor, i havent been blessed yet with a dual or quad core :<

But seriously, 6 cores?

I dont know of anything that would need 6 besides running crysis max
