I remember Blockland had it's own IRC, but it's long empty and dead. An IRC for the forums would be hectic, confusing, and full of stupids. It'd be impossible to control the flow unless you passworded it, would would defeat the purpose.

IRC is Internet Chat Relay. It is a method of chat used across the internet. RTB uses a method to connect Blockland to one. RTB did not invent IRC, it is not the central owner of the process, it is just a add-on to a game to make it use it.
