Author Topic: Any suggestions for making an online 2D game?  (Read 4056 times)

I'm looking into getting into game design, and already have enough skill to create a prototype. My problem is lack of inspiration. I'd like to make something that's interesting, and never been done correctly before. So yeah, anyone have any sweet ideas for an online 2D game? Anything 2-dimensional, with any form of online gameplay is the only thing I request. (Coop, competitive, sandbox, etc)

It's been done a thousand times.

co-op turn-based RPG with magics in the future.

word.

so like FF, but each player controls the characters?

Some tips : Don't make just a generic mmo where u kill things lvl up and kill moore things. Make an extremley advanced 2d dungeon crawler like game. Tons of cuztomization and weapons so other players won't look like each other. Strategy goes along with it.

Like this.
With this:
co-op  with magics in the future.

word.

also add death knights.

mother loving death knights

Guns, use them in it.

Basic Idea:Make it an MMO called Mana, top down camera view would be my vote, 10 classes all magic users: Necromancer, Magician, Sorceror, Preist, Druid, Chronotwister (I dunno time magic class?), Witch Doctor, Controller, Shifter, and Warlock.

Progression: Use "Magic Experience" instead of normal EXP and instead of leveling say you get 10 ME (Magic experiance) from killing a goblin after 10 goblins you have 100 ME meaning you can put that into spells say I am on a Necromancer, I would put 60 points in skeletons, 20 points into geist and 30 points into the zombie it would require 100 ME in the spell for level 1, 1000 for level 2, 5000 for level 3, 15000 for level 4 etc going up to level 20 each spell and enemies will give more ME the higher level/difficulty they are... you dig?

Class Ideas:

Necromancer: Summons multiple skeletons (Basic pawn) up to 10 if you put talents into that, Summons a buffer(geist) , and a tank (zombie) (Easy class) (PLEASE PUT A NECROMANCER IN YOUR GAME!)

Magician: Basic mage, fire, ice etc...

Sorceror: Arcane and Darkness magic

Preist: Main healer/ light magic

Druid: Nature magic IE Roots that come up to trip people/Leaves that cut people (Use your imagination on this one)

Chronotwister(?): Slows down/stops time (At higher levels) and ages enemies

Witch Doctor: Uses Mojo instead of mana, it's green (just for lulz) and the class curses enemies/changes their forms

Controller: Makes enemies kill themselves or eachother

Shifter: Changes forms to do the ONLY melee in the game other than a basic staff hit, Changes into a wolf, bear, enemy even as a disguise, this will be the sneaky class because they would disguise as the enemy, get behind them and surprise attack for a special damage enhancement...

Warlock: This class casts Chaos spells (WHO THE forget CARES IF THE WARLOCK IN WoW HAS ONE CHAOS SPELL) and can posses enemies, not like the shifter though you get COMPLETE control over the possessed like you would control your character, you get to use their abilities etc, and if there is PvP nobody can tell they are possessed, sneaky sneaky.

Well thats just my Idea, you COULD make a game with these as the mage class's sub-classes but I would prefer only magic.

If you do this can you put me down for the basic idea man?
