Author Topic: Trouble with Portal: First Slice Demo  (Read 1981 times)

I've been trying to launch it every day for the past week or so. It goes past the copyrights, then I get to this blurred picture with a "Loading..." Sign in the bottom right corner. Soon after that, it quits unexpectedly.

I use Mac, my computer well overpowers the requirements, and yet it quits exactly a minute after I try launching EVERY time. I've already asked for help under Support, but the answer was a failure.

Can someone help me?

Well there's your problem...
I knew that was gonna happen. D:

Jamie Hyneman uses Mac though.

wtf why you didnt got portal for free when they gave it

You are probably using either an older mac so it has stuffty hardware, or you are using a newer mac wit- Wait those have stuffty hardware too.

Because I was in Maui, without a computer. :P

I'm using a new Mac, which has MUCH better hardware than any new Windows or PC.

Dude, Use DXlevel 80.

Right click on portal and go to properties, then set launch options.
In the box put this in without the "s "-dxlevel 80"
Hit "OK" then done.
Open up portal to test.

I died inside.

Windows or PC
Clearly you don't know anything about computers because Windows is a PC.

I know, I'm trying to make it a bit clearer because most people classify them as two different computers. :I

Like you.

Noo, I know they're the same.
AHAHAA

Those specs are terrible and waaaay overpriced. My computer eats your computer for breakfast without any milk!

I laughed hard.

Like Syntho said my computer can probably rip yours to shreds, eat it, stuff it out and feed it to dogs.

My new computer coming next week will probably just annihilate yours.
