Wait. What is you date of birth?

ADHD is SOOO overdiagnosed.

Generally with high IQ you get some of the symptoms of ADHD regarding focus, but never hyper. It is rare that somebody with ADHD is only at a focus loss or is only hyper, it is most always a combination of the two.

Almost every single extremely intelligent person I've met was diagnosed for ADHD including myself.

however, I won't say I can easily focus on brain intensive tasks (I'm usually last to turn in my algebra tests)
But I'm really, really not hyper.

I'm sure some of you here might have ADHD, but seriously go read up on the side effects of higher IQ versus the symptoms of ADHD. You might be surprised.

my momy says im special so i am

My mom says I'm special, but who the hell is this Ed guy?

ADHD wouldn't make you smarter it would just make you distracted.
ADHD is over-diagnosed. :c
This is true, here is why.

Those with the predominantly inattentive type often:
•fail to pay close attention to details or make careless mistakes in schoolwork, work, or other activities
•have difficulty sustaining attention to tasks or leisure activities
•do not seem to listen when spoken to directly
•do not follow through on instructions and fail to finish schoolwork, chores, or duties in the workplace
•have difficulty organizing tasks and activities
•avoid, dislike, or are reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort
•lose things necessary for tasks or activities
•are easily distracted by extraneous stimuli
•are forgetful in daily activities
Those with the predominantly hyperactive/impulsive type often:•fidget with their hands or feet or squirm in their seat
•leave their seat in situations in which remaining seated is expected
•move excessively or feel restless during situations in which such behavior is inappropriate
•have difficulty engaging in leisure activities quietly
•are "on the go" or act as if "driven by a motor"
•talk excessively
•blurt out answers before questions have been completed
•have difficulty awaiting their turn
•interrupt or intrude on others
Those with the combined type, the most common type of ADHD, have a combination of the inattentive and hyperactive/impulsive symptoms.

What is needed to make a diagnosis of ADHD?

A diagnosis of ADHD is made when an individual displays at least six symptoms from either of the above lists, with some symptoms having started before age seven. Clear impairment in at least two settings, such as home and school or work, must also exist. Additionally, there must be clear evidence of clinically significant impairment in social, academic, or occupational functioning.

According to this I would have ADHD too, but I know I don't.

I've only got 3 symptoms from aml's chart thing

I have OCD and was the dumbest in my class in pre-Kindergarten.
Until, for some odd reason in pre-kindergarten I picked up a book that the teacher just read.
I did the same thing for several days until I could read and understand the whole book and the words in it. With the new discovery of reading, I read as much as I could until my vocabulary was at an astronomical level and I was reading at a 6th grade level in 1st grade.
My parents didn't know what the forget happened.

so that's my little story on how I'm a genius too c:
oh yeah also I'm the best writer in my class :3

IQs are stupid.

So you should feel stupid!

I have borderline ADHD and OCD. I have an above-average intelligence but I'm an underachiever because I'm lazy and I procrastinate. This year in school I'm going to try not to procrastinate or be lazy.

I don't believe in ADHD.

True dat.

There really is no way to fully confirm a diagnosis. That's why psychiatrists just go through criteria and may write a prescription. I know several parents who were just over reactive and practically demanded their children to get medicine when they really didn't need it.

I, personally, feel so many people are diagnosed with it because there is a name for it. :o

Huehuehue.

But, I'm hyper.
And I loving love to pop my fingers/neck.

ADHD can be overcome, you just have to believe!

Hyperactivity is very common. And popping your fingers and neck are bad for your joints. :c
