Ok, so we know that music take a lot of memory to store a file, however. I have learned that Data don't take up too much space and Music files can be converted into Data files. So, here is my idea.

Basically, we have an add-on, that take Music Data files, and the add-on allows for Blockland to read these files and play them, as if it was a normal music file in Blockland.

Discuss.

Background Music Player

Your missing the point.

What I want is an add-on that take data files from the music folder and lets Blockland read the file as if it was a normal Blockland music file

I don't think this can be done because of the way the torque game engine works.

Just convert to .ogg using audacity and be done with it.

That is not what I want. Dammit people, read to OP.

I want an add-on that take data music files, and allows Blockland to reed them as .ogg files. Thgis way, lots of memory is saved, even with full songs.

I did some research, and it turns out that .ogg files are smaller than .mp3's.

Not mp3 smart one, data files.

What is a data file.

They are supposed to be a small file that holds up a lot of less memory. Music on this format would still sound as if it was a different file. This is memory efficient and less of a download, which could allow you to download full songs faster and have members joining your server that have music download on, download said full songs quickly.

Dude, you're asking us to somehow break into Blockland's source code and add a ".Data" importer to it. Let me say this again: You're saying that we somehow have the ability to make Blockland read any file we want to in any way.

1: I feel quite sure that ".Data" files are not the actual music, but probably some shortcut or way of simplifying the main file.

2: As I implied above, you can not just tell Blockland a random file type and tell it to read it a certain way. That's like telling a music player to run a html because there's a audio file being played on the page. It can't do this.

I'm not saying to make Blockland to read every code. I'm saying for something to give it the ability to read data files for music. If the code needs to be edited, then let it be so.
