Author Topic: Just started playing Wow again, my account was hacked  (Read 1265 times)

I just logged in to find a bunch of new characters by the name of annabellez on my game D:. I was hacked over the many month period without playing wow. I had to do password recovery to get access to the account but how did they find out my password. I'm scared.

Also, the person has created a bunch of level 2 briest/warlocks/mages/shamans
spread out amongst many servers it's taking a long time to delete them all.

Happened to my brother and When I USED to play someone stole my pants :I

I'm afraid that they got my credit card information and stuff don't they have to get through the security questions and stuff to change my password? One of the questions is the elementary school I went to how did they know.

is it normal to have a WTF folder in the world of warcraft folder with account stuff inside?

edit: on the plus side I htink the hacker upgradewd my account to wrath of the lich king for me :o :D

The WTF folder is normal.  (And quite humorous.)  Also, nice job on the WotLK.

Yes that is a normal folder.
Having your dogs name as your password isn't a good idea FYI.

Your sister's gonna rage when she finds out you deleted her characters.

They didn't get your credit card information. You can't actually view the card the account uses just the last 4 numbers if I remember correctly.

it's not my dogs name fyi, it was an old thing I used to want people to call me back in the day.

I'm changing it now, I'm changing everything now. A total  conversion of all my passwords since I used the same one for everything they must be changed.  I am changing them to a random assortment of letters that appeared on my plate that previously had writing in a raspberry sauce around the rim. These letters are burned into my mind forever and are pretty much unguessable.
