Edit: I think the article means the price to 'set up' a school in Afghanistan, not the cost to build an entirely new school stateside.

The wars mentioned in the first part of that article were less than 5 years, aside from the Revolutionary War.

This is also modern warfare with tanks, airplanes, radar, and stuff like that. I can understand why it's more expensive than all of those wars combined.
