So an RPG's fins works about the same as an arrow?
Yes, basically.

Where do games like Call of Duty and Bad Company 2 get the idea of using knives as a weapon? Were they just looking for a point-blank instakill and thought "well everyone has a knife, lets use that"?

Yes. Melee attacks make battles more lethal and intense, it's more about game design than realism.

Living in the midwest has given me plenty of experience with firearms, and I can tell you, talking with someone who dosn't know anything about firearms except from CoD is pretty fustruating.

Yeah, pretty much :/ I find it funny sometimes, managing to thrust a knife through a kevlar hemlet is very possible in every shooter. But still, I prefer BC2 over CoD, since it shows your character ACTUALLY attempting to stab, instead of swiping it really quick across the enemy midsection.
Plus Bad Company's shotgun range is lovey :D

Also just out of curiosity, is there any model of autocannon that could be carried by hand? Not including ammunition, just the gun itself.

You should add that "We carry MAGS or CLIPS! not BULLETS!"
But in some cases thats pretty obvious

Not that I know of, no.

Unless you want to count light machine guns, no. Most autocannons that I think your talking about weigh several hundred pounds I think and would require almost super human strength to carry. Assuming you could carry the gun, I don't think there would be much recoil due to the sheer weight of the gun.

TLDR: The weight is the only thing preventing you from carrying it effectively.

I guess mechwarrior wasn't just making ballistic weapons heavy as hell for the sake of balance, then. What makes them that heavy, is it just the sheer size of them?

Mainly the size and the ammo I think.

Auto cannons don't fire ballistics, they use shells.

It's not really worth it to make a tiny explosive shell, adding a little explosive to a .50 BMG is relatively trivial, so auto cannons are typically only made to fire extremely large caliber shells.

wow u guys never play call of duy all u are wrog

Has anyone seen the 2010 Green Hornet movie? Because the main villain's weapon is a pistol with two barrels. I'd like to have an explanation on how this is impossible, because I can't seem to come up with a thought of how ridiculous that is.
