Author Topic: What is your opinion on the "Ground Zero Mosque"  (Read 2919 times)

Ladios, eat stuff.

Two blocks in that area is very far. The very fact that you take any offense in something they have the right to do makes you a stuffhead.
:O
But the fact that they are building something religious at all offends you, no?
Also two blocks away is not very far. Most food places I eat at are two blocks away from my school when I am able to afford it.

I dunno... I guess distance is relative :/

:I
It's just I'd say something, since I disagree with what you said, but the topic isn't really about that, as Ladios said. :I

So I'll just stick to what I said before:
Quite fine with me, so long as it isn't on the site of the World Trade center. (As said before) That lot deserves something commemorative, but the Muslims near the area deserve a place of worship as well. c:

I can see why someone would be somewhat upset if they are in a grievous state, but just because some parts of the religion aren't exactly friendly with us, that doesn't make them all horrible. It doesn't make any of them horrible. You shouldn't persecute an entire group because some are extremists. Every group has their extremists, it makes them no better nor worse then the next.

Religion causes a lot of un-needed violence and hate towards other religions. If we just dropped religion all together the world would be a lot more peaceful. No more jew hating, no more muslim hating, no more Al-Qaeda wanting to kill Americans, everything.

Yeah....

....no.

Yeah....

....no.

Explain how Solid is wrong.

PROTIP: He isn't.

Can't really think of a good way to word this, but... I think if all the religious people in the world dropped their religion, sure, there wouldn't be inter-religion hate, but there'd be general anarchy everywhere. If god's not watching anymore, why be goody-goody?

Like I said, couldn't think of a good way to explain it, but yeah.

The world would still be pretty bad without religion, true, but it would be a lot more better off.

Come now, people aren't that stupid. You don't see atheists in the streets killing everyone.

Yes because all Atheists are horrible people.

Yes because all Atheists are horrible people.

Not what I'm saying bro.

Like I already stated twice, I couldn't think of a good way to word my post. I seriously started typing and then erased it all 2 or 3 times.

I really don't care for any religion meaning i'm not for or against, so i think thats just fine as long as its not ON ground zero

Not what I'm saying bro.

So you're contradicting yourself?

Here, I thought of a better way to word it I guess.

I used to go to church, I liked it, bla bla bla. Now I really dislike going to church, I'd stop but I really don't have a choice until I move out. I know from experience that the change from believing in god to not believing in god (or being agnostic I guess) can make you do some... stupid things. Of course that wouldn't happen to everyone, which is why I said "Not what I'm saying bro." when you said I was saying "all Atheists are horrible people."

Religion is a tool like the internet or like a saw or even like human hands. It cannot do anything unless someone uses it. Unless someone contributes. There will always be poor uses for a tool, just as there will be good. There will always be influences because that tool is there, once again both good and bad.

The part of religion that isn't a tool is the Faith it instills. Faith is, as I define it, a form of Love. It is the knowing of light, even when in darkness. It is the search for wisdom when all seems lost. It is the desire to continue even when all seems hopeless. Everyone needs Faith within something and most people do, even if they don't realize it.

I'm not saying that the world would be changed for the better or for the worse if religion was dropped. What I'm saying is that religion is extraordinarily different person to person. Some perceive it as the source of all evil while others find it to be the only thing that keeps them going throughout the day. Some people use it as an excuse to hurt, others use it as a motivation to help. Some insult it, others praise it. Religion, like life, is a very speculative thing.
