How is Oblivion NOT an open world sandbox game?

You can forget around and completely ignore the... well... anything...
You can go ALMOST anywhere (With the exception of DLC or storyline/quest-specific areas that you can't access otherwise) and get your armor and equipment at your choice, you just have to level.

Oblivion for sure, oblivion was probably the best "open-style" game I've ever played.

I will be flamed for this,
but admit it.
Runescape is kind of a sandbox game...
Also Borderlands? Need for speed, only the ones with freeroam though...
Not sure about anything else

Runescape is kind of a sandbox game... no, just no
Also Borderlands? sorta, it's more of a free roam, you don't have unlimited possibilities
Need for speed, only the ones with freeroam though... no
Not sure about anything else Garry's Mod

fuel is a racing game but has a free roam sandbox type thing

the map in the game broke records for being the biggest map ever
Wrong!  TES 2 still has the world's largest game map.

Runescape pretty much is, it has no aim, you do what you want when you want to and can do many different things in any particular order you choose, or not do it at all.

You can also modify your house if your a member.

Crackdown 2. Sims. Lego games.

Wurm and minecraft?

Also, in runescape you can't just put up a house where ever the forget you want, you get the loading screens and such like the wikipedia article said. Runescape is not a sandbox game, neither is WoW, same goes for most MMO's.

They're sandbox games.  And for a really good game, play Morrowind.
