Author Topic: Why were the 60's and 70's so great compared to today.  (Read 4247 times)

I was talking one day and I realized all of those good things back in the 60's and 70's.

There was great restaurants, cars, music, places to go, and people.

People were a lot nicer.

We weren't so lazy, we didn't have a lot of super technology.

We still made our own cars!

Europe, the US and the UK weren't all in a massive race to become the best totalitarian police state.

They weren't. Take off your rose-tinted nostalgia glasses.

You also forgot the part where we were on the brink of nuclear war.

they only fill better because you were not there.

The 60's and 70's really weren't all that great, you had Vietnam in the 60's and Cocaine in the 70's not to mention Crime rates in America skyrocketed when Nixon started the war on drugs, those rates where comparable to Prohibition in the 20's.

Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. All I have to say.

Which you can still listen to today.

Not live though. It would have been amazing to see them.

People only remember the good in the past never the bad. It would of been great to be able to go back to those days when certain people were alive but you wouldn't ever enjoy being there. I need to call some one, oh wait I can't no mobile phones, I'll use the phone system! Oh wait I have to talk to an operator. I'll just watch TV, oh wait...

Nothing is better in the past, it lacks everything you know today.

Packer, this is why we need time machines.

Yes. Also, Frank Zappa and the Grateful Dead.

I think that the sixties were so different from today that you can't just say that one is better than the other. We have more technology and means of communication, they had less stuffty music and less obesity. There's no simple way to say that one is better than the other.

Most definitely Zappa. I'm not a big Grateful Dead fan.

Think of paradoxes.

Because the economy sucks, the youth sucks, the culture sucks, etc.
