Author Topic: Solar Panel Highways  (Read 3534 times)

By then we'll have a new way to create energy which works 100x better than solar panels.
And we'll have to take them all out.

I don't think so. Technology is kinda of at a standstill. If you think back when was the last time someone invited a music instrument? Creations are invented out of the need of convience. Since our lives are so convient there's no need to really invent anything.

Few new groundbreaking inventions do not mean technology has come to a standstill.

Look how far we've come in the past 10 years when it comes to things like smartphones, processing speed, internet connectivity, automotive technology, and medical advancements.

Technology is FAR from a standstill.

I guess so but the processing speed is B.S. Most applications only read 3 cores let alone 6. Although it is good when you're trying to run 50 programs at once.

i could see solar sidewalks....but solar highways would be VERY high maintinence
under that plexi glass, solar panels are as fragile as paper tin

True, true but it's not like asphalt cracks and gets forgeted up and needs a repavement every year.

true, lets make a topic about tf2 VS doom II classes/monsters

Lets not, and say we did.

But once we have flying cars, we won't need roads. :c

But it's a good idea, to say the least.
We could still keep the mass collection of solar panels to charge said flying cars. :V

There are so many issues with this. First of all, on high traffic roads, the "wear and tear" is increased greatly. Not quite sure how long solar panels would last. Second of all, the streets would have to be completely clean in-order to maintain the maximum output. Next, in places where there are hot days and cool nights, the temperature fluctuation cracks asphalt, imagine what would happen to glass. And lastly, to replace a whole section of America's infrastructure would take a few decades.

That's the future.

I'd say we should put huge solar panels on top of buildings.

And cars.

And houses.

The street lights, traffic lights, and any other road lights around here are powered by solar panels that line the streets :o

It's cool but forget expensive.

Infinite power.

Solar panel powers light, light powers solar panel, solar panel powers light .etc
IT'S THE FUTURE

Solar panels need the sun, not a light bulb.
