Defense of the Ancients is a custom map for Warcraft III which has a somewhat large community. I've never really gotten into it since most servers for it only want the pros :|

You might be familiar with some of the DotA clones, Heroes of Newerth and League of Legends, both are pretty much what DotA was.

No.

Valve has a ton of teams. The TF2 team, the L4D team, Alien Swarm team, and the Half-Life/Portal team. Just because one team does something doesn't mean it delays the others.
