Many times I save my game while jumping off something just low enough not to hurt me.

yeah, the mod manager isnt even needed for most of them. only the ones you SHOULD keep a backup of original files.
or mods that are just large and intrusive that might break your game later, that you might need to turn off.

this and many mods have multiple ESPs or ESMs which is what you're seeing on the left.
