I have the Gateway NV7802u which gets 5 hours of battery life when I'm running windows 7 professional 64bit.
When running Ubuntu, I get around 3 hours of battery life (linux doesnt handle power consumption well).
It comes with a 500 gig hard drive, 4 gigs of RAM, the dual core t6600 which is 2.2 ghz or some stuff, and is basically built for watching movies, etc.
Also the hard drive is 5400 rpm, and performs great for a laptop hard drive.
What I like most about it is that it has four usb 2.0 ports, an hdmi port, an ethernet port, and a dial up port.
OH BTW it came when windows 7 came out (last october I think?) so it should be down to ~500 dollars. YOU COULD BUY 2
