Author Topic: Collision meshes and Shadows  (Read 1637 times)

I've searched everywhere but I can't find a solution to this problem.

I want to create a shadow on my vehicle that doesn't use the collision mesh, but the actual vehicle itself. I've seen plenty of other vehicles pull this off, and I have no idea how to go about doing it.

I'm using Milkshape. Using the regular DTS exporter does it just fine, but then flat-shading won't work. Using the DTSPlus exporter does flat-shading, but the shadow is of the collision mesh. How do I get both flat-shading and a non-collision mesh shadow?

Bumping because I'd really like to fix this problem. Also there's an issue where the collision mesh becomes visible at a distance.

Make sure all LOD's are correct.
All the LOD's are set to 100 and the collision mesh is set to -1

I really need a fix to this, guys. Come on.

I think it is milkshape itself, but try this.

I had this problem when the collision mesh shows up, just make the LODs on the vehicle parts 16 instead of 32 and make sure the collision mesh's LODs are -1.

For blender I use collision having a 0 LOD and everything else having 32.

Packer made a tutorial for Flatshading: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=20807.0

Both of those have been tried to no effect.  Come on guys, it's not like he didn't do some intense searching.

Vehicle's everythings' LODs should be 16, except for the collision mesh, that should be -1.

The collision mesh appearing has been fixed it seems, but I still have the shadow issue. :/

Well in blender you change the shadow type to triangle strips. I think its the shadow type at least. If not its something along the lines of that.

EDIT: This is in the export options btw.

I'd really prefer to stick with milkshape, I don't even want to go near Blender.

You messed up Detail32 or shape
