Author Topic: WE DESIRE 32BIT COLOR SYSTEM.  (Read 1566 times)

WHY HELLO BADSPOT!

32BIT COLORS, NO COLORSETS. MAKE IT HAPPEN IF YOU WANT TO.

WE DON'T CARE ABOUT COLORED PAINTCANS, OK?

and then all existing builds break

A NEW-TO-OLD .bls CONVERTER COULD BE IN ORDER.

um

I think what spock means to say is a bunch of the Craftsmen were talking in a server and arguing about colorsets, and we all came to the conclusion that a 32 bit color system would be great. I don't know how the brick system works, but from my limited knowledge of torquescript I shouldn't think it would be that hard for Badspot to implement. It'd also be nice if each client had a presets gui where they could store some of their favorite colors for easy access. This would vastly improve builds, and I can't think of any reason why not to do it.

It would make picking colors really hard and annoying, and wouldn't be like lego. (What we're kinda simulating here)  Did you really like that color you used the other day?  too bad, you're not getting it ever again.

Like a colorset but less dumb and restrictive.

YES. I SUPPORT.

Four sliders in the E menu; red, green, blue, alpha.

You could always set a palette of favorite colors which would be a stand-in for the current palette system, and have an extended menu to set those colors via an RGB Wheel or the same tool that's used in avatar creation.

Maybe have a color picking /command that lets you see the color of a brick someone else made.

Or something similar that lets you enter a hex code and use it. For instance, /color 8b0500 for a dark red.

I deeply desire for this to be implemented.

I've spoken out against this in the past for non technical issues.

The main thing being, people, when faced with many choices, will have a harder time making good choices.
Moreover we'll spend more time picking colors and less time building.

These arguments are not of the best quality.

What about being able to set 64-128 custom colors through some sort of GUI?

Yuki, you don't count.

Moving on,
What about being able to set 64-128 custom colors through some sort of GUI?
Could work, I guess, the whole deal still seems silly, though.
