I think it would suck either way. Although if you have a pair a verbally abusive parent is no real problem. On the other hand physically I can't imagine how much it could suck. I would imagine having an absent parent would be more depressing then life shattering.

In either case if you power through like a boss and don't forget up, you can turn out alright.

I saw a young woman walking down the street near my house with a toddler crawling on the ground behind her, crying. She continued to turn around and scream "forget YOU forget YOU forget YOU...", and then continued walking, leaving the toddler in the dust.

That might not have been her child, but well... I'm sure people can see what's wrong with the picture. You just don't turn to a crying kid and tell them that. :/
