Author Topic: I'm getting okay at guitar :D  (Read 2243 times)

Well I've had my guitar for a year now, but just recently I've started to play seriously. In two weeks I've learned to play

Seven Nation Army - The White Stripes

Smoke on the water - Deep Purple

I've also learned some pretty neat things like Vibrato, a Power Cord, and a basic excercise.

I'm so proud of myself <3

Pretty old stuff.

I know a lot of people who did those songs in 6th grade.

It's good that you've put your mind to learning how to play. Myself, I've never really taken on any instruments.

Yea so? I just started so I'm proud of myself. That's all that matters amirite?

Try playing the guitar intro in this.

Record yourself playing and show us. :D

Because both of those songs are incredibly easy to play

But hey, if you're proud about it, that's cool

Learn the Phrygian mode and Gypsy scales, they're pretty bad ass.

I'll try them out thanks for the suggestion.

And you learned hard songs when you first started?

I'll look for a tab but idk.

And you learned hard songs when you first started?
I started off with harder songs than those, yes

I'm not saying you're a stuff player for starting on those lol
I just said they're easy to play. No need to get upset about it

Nice work! I wanted to learn the piano, but I hated doing it after school. I had a really good start initially...
Don't want to do it now because I hate the idea of a teacher watching over me waiting for me to make a mistake. My friend plays piano well, she said she would teach me something but I need to start from the basics and she is so advance already that I can't keep up...

.. I need a crappy keyboard I can practice on.

I remember when I took piano lessons. I loved playing the piano, but I absolutely hated being told how and when to play.

Just look on craigslist or ebay. I'm sure you can find a really cheap, semi-decent keyboard to play on

Then can you get me some songs (plus tabs please) if you can?

Yeah I really should...

Indeed. I don't want playing an instrument to feel like a chore...

Greenday is easy to play.  Learn a lot of that.  Go over scales, memorize chords, and practice daily, and you will get very good.
