Author Topic: Process Fail  (Read 1924 times)

Well I went to install something and the installer minimized after starting so I went to go look for the process in the task manager. I saw that my internet explorer (no google chrome stuff, mkay?) wasn't running but I saw the process explorer.exe. Yes I know internet explorer's process isn't explorer.exe but I had a brain fart and wound up ending the process. Then bam my desktop dispears and the only thing I can conjure from my mouth is, "FFFF-". So I restarted my computer and everything's fine. Am I going senile or was it an honest mistake?

I did that once. I just restarted my computer and everything was fine.

lol iecigarette

Anyway, you just need to wait a minute for explorer.exe to start up again. No need to waste time restarting your PC.

A little too late for that. But I'll keep that in mind next time thanks.

Except for the iecigarette...

To fix everything without restarting go into cmd and type:
c:\windows\explorer.exe
To restart explorer.

Or open task manager, go to start new process and simply type "explorer" seeing as, you know, explorer is crashed so he couldn't exactly access the CMD.

Use the run menu and type in 'cmd' to bring up the command prompt.
Then type 'c:/windows/explorer.exe', or whatever.

I managed to stop everything apart from csrss.exe and winlogon.exe.

:D

I don't reccommend doing it, seriously.

Explorer exe.  = Windows Explorer.
that links everything.

Why did this get bumped from like page 100? What the hell?

hotshot87, stop bumping my old threads.
