So you're saying that it's a static sprite?
yes, actually. because the pokemon never changed between the two sprites in a battle.

They never changed sprites in-battle in Crystal either. This is the first time that they are animated during a battle.

It's like the console game animations but in pixels.

Minus the reaction animations and attacking animations.

battle starts > pokemon makes noise and plays some sort of animation like waving or jumping or yawning or some other stuff.

stop being dumb.

They did that in Crystal too, so what are you talking about?

So I herd u liked contradicting yourself.

The had animated sprites in D/P/PT and HG/SS. Late bro.

beginning of a battle =/= mid battle
In past games the Pokemon would do an animation and remain static for the duration of the battle. In the upcoming games they ditched that and Pokemon are constantly moving.

because I said they moved in mid battle on Crystal, right?

No, you said that the animations returned even though they made a comeback in Emerald. It's true that Crystal animations had more frames than sprites in other games, but 2 frames is enough for the sprites to be classified as animated.

you should note that they said 2 SPRITES, not frames.

I don't know if you just can't understand this or something, but the two sprites are here:

sprite 1: view of pokemon from behind (lucario is using this sprite)
sprite 2: view of pokemon from in front (lucario's opponent is using this sprite)

each pokemon has 2 sprites, front and back. these sprites are never used together in a sequence to form an animation.

Open up Firefox if you have it, choose an article of whatever Pokemon and scroll down to the sprite section to see what I'm talking about. You need Firefox because the Gen IV sprites are animated .PNGs on the site.

And then they just bob up and down while you are choosing your option.

I have Firefox but the images aren't loading, I'll take your word for it anyways.

I'm still excited about more animations, even though I dont even have a working DS anymore.

if I bought the game, would it be legal for me to emulate it on my computer?

So it's not just me.
