Author Topic: Half Life won't install.  (Read 2268 times)

So I just got home, and I just put in the Half-Life disk I am borrowing from a friend. (First one). The little menu opens up saying Install Half-Life. I click it. The little blue circle appears by my mouse, then disapears. I've tried installing it 3 times now. It won't work.

THe only information I can tell about OS' is that I have W7. Is that too high for it?

Register it with Steam, the Steam version AFAIK is compatible with Windows 7.

I don't know about the CD version.

No, you have to actually enter the key in and bind it to your Steam account to get the full version to your account and be able to play it.

What about those poor people who can't afford don't have steam.

I was borrwoing it from a firend to try it out. I haven't had a chance to play any of them. Plus, he said it didn't require steam, only HL2 did.

Maybe steam?
It works fine for me, but I got my disk from my dad, maybe your/your friend's disk is broken.

I am not sure. I just read the Readme file, and It says I need the most currect version of DirectX, which I don't have yet. Can you link me to the DirectX site please. (I want to be sure of safe link.)

Ok, good. Just making sure it can support DirectX 10.
I've seen some games crash when trying to play DX10 on a DX9 card, but that was with a Nvidia card, I don't know how ATI would go.

just register it on steam, let me list the pros of this...

1: you get to play it anytime you want, even without the disk

2: why not? if you all ready have a steam why not just register it?
