I like the history behind what made this game, but why is it so loved?  Its just another FPS with flashy guns and jetpacks.

I'm personally not a big fan of the franchise simply because everyone else is. I like the old, out-of-the-way, relatively little-known games that nobody plays anymore.

Half-Price Books boasts a wonderful collection of games like these.

I think a lot of it has to do with the soundtrack.  Halo presented a more moving and inspiring score compared to previous FPSs.  The cinematics are good as it is, but add in that epic new-wave sounding orchestra and it completes the story perfectly.

Oh sorry, I meant the multiplayer.

It's fun and different from all other games.

It's liked because it's just a good fun FPS and people choose that one over the others.

Don't ask why.
