Why is Halo so Loved?

It's a decent FPS from the times I've played it, and I'd say it's the best alien FPS that I've played.

That's how most people play it, but I pay attention to what's going on and stuff.

I think a lot of it has to do with the soundtrack.  Halo presented a more moving and inspiring score compared to previous FPSs.  The cinematics are good as it is, but add in that epic new-wave sounding orchestra and it completes the story perfectly.

Orchestras in music soundtracks aren't a new thing.

Halo is meh. I played the first one years back, it was alright. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Its mostly just nerd hype.

True.  But the way it was incorporated into the gameplay and just the sound of it really impressed me from the start.

Halo is OK

I don't care at all whether a game has something used before, or whether it's unrealistic. As long as it isn't too much into either of those categories, and the gameplay/graphics are great, it's good IMO. Which is why I like Modern Warfare 2 and Half-Life 2.

I don't like Halo for two simple reasons.

1. The story mode is boring and not even a challenge on legendary, it's not hard at all. I don't know what's the problem. You have enough time to take down an enemy, one by one, but yet I see persons rush in with a room full of enemies and then afterwards ask themselves why they died.

2. I suck at playing FPS games online on a console simple because I'm 1000x better with having a mouse and keyboard below my hands and not a controller.

A mouse+keyboard control is much better then standard game controllers.
