Author Topic: Building a Pottery Wheel :O!  (Read 2129 times)

So in a topic a while back I was gonna buy a pottery wheel, but they are like $500!!! So I started to build one :D!

Here's my progress:

Table:

2' x 2' Frame for throwing:

1' x 1' & two 1' x 6" Containers for tools:

Where I will mount the motor:

I put silicone in all the corners so water won't leak.

I'll post updates when I can.

Make carrots
Post if you make anything cool.

Looks nice! :D

Don't go killing yourself.

Post if you make anything cool.

I haven't made pottery before (Except once in 1st grade) so they might turn out crappy. But I'll practice a lot. There is a kiln close to my house so I'll fire the pots there.

Once you move, that won't be there.
If you ever move.

My motor is 20 years old.... hehe. It still runs great, and it is 1/2 HP 1750 RPM, so I will use about an 8 inch pulley to slow it down.

The legs don't look too stable, so I'd watch out.

But so far it looks impressive.

I thought someone would notice that. Don't worry. If you notice the back legs with a 2x4 going across are stable, so I will also do that for the other side.

Here's the motor: (Old. I know)

And the wheel:
