Author Topic: Alienware Laptop m17x. Good buy?  (Read 913 times)

My aunt has offered to get me a laptop of up to 4 grand.
I want a good gaming laptop, and I hear it runs Crysis well.
Should I get one?

NOTE: Im not a computer engineer so I won't build/mod a laptop-sized motherboard and I ALREADY HAVE A CUSTOM BUILT DESKTOP!

Games I expect to be running:

Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
Modern Warfare 2
Crysis
Half Life 2 and its episodes
TF2
Portal

EDIT: the shocking truth!: one side of my family is rich!

Sure since you can't build laptops.

My aunt has offered to get me a laptop of up to 4 grand.

I would have to earn all of that.

most people will tell you to get something else besides Alienware, even though I hear they're solidly built.

4 grand holy crap. Falcon Northwest, maybe?

I was thinking about getting one of those for my next laptop c:

you could probably get 4 laptops good enough to run those games with that much.

I is so rich :3
Thanks for sharing.

And I would probably get it. 4 grand sounds a bit steep. And people underrate alienware even though most people dont own it (I cant really say as I dont own one either).

It starts out at like $1800 but I'm thinking of heavily modding mine/making it kick ass

You can but it's a complete bitch.

The only reason to get a laptop is battery life. You will get none of that with a heavy gaming laptop.

Asus sells one right now that is pretty damn good and ties any alienware computer for $1300.

No. Prices are outrageous. Build the same thing as a PC for less. Laptop battery life is a problem and speakers are usually awful.

He already has a custom built one, and I'm pretty sure he wants games on the go, which would probably last for ~30 mins.

Exactly. You don't need to take a video game everywhere with you, you know.

I have a rich aunt myself, too bad she is a cheapskate. She got divorced and she got like $800,000 after she forced my uncle to sell all assets they shared and split the money, and he has to pay her like $8,000 a month, and yet the bitch still will not even look at a bill when it comes to the table. On my birthday she offered to take me to dinner with my mom, I asked if I could get lobster and she was silent for a bit and then said "are you suuuuure you want lobster?"

But to answer your question sure get the most expensive alienware you can get if you have such a huge budget.
