Religion keeps the world running normally.

By "normally" do you mean "at war"?

Religion keeps the world running normally.
Well..

Religion is one of the foundations of our entire society and certainly it contributes. Keeping it running "normally", however, is stretching it a bit. But then again, our society really never was normal, per se,  in the first place. :o

Society can't be defined as normal unless every other society was exactly the same.

My definition of normal.

Societies have different kinds of "normals", as in different ways of life.

Well, while it was the foundation of our society, it is certainly not a necessity. We evolve ethics with or without religion.

We evolve ethics mostly by religion.

Ah, but we gained almost all of the moral and cultural aspects of today's world from religion in one way or another. I'm not saying it was necessary for survival, no, but for what we were, are, and will be it certainly was and nothing can change that.

But of course, in this day and age, a person can have strong morals without direct influence from religion. That is to say that a person doesn't necessarily have to belong to a religion or have Faith in God to be a good person.

it is interesting to see the incredible powers of magick. he can singlehandedly calm a religion thread, and almost any time anybody criticizes him, everybody else rages at them.

He is like a little puppy or something.
