Author Topic: How do I prevent overheating(RROD) on Xbox 360?  (Read 1369 times)

put it in a freezer and run a cord out a hole  :cookieMonster:

My xbox is on top of our DVD player and it runs fine. Of course, if you get the Elite or Slim model, you won't get a RRoD unless you get a faulty one.

I've had my xbox for almost 3 years, and I've only gotten a RROD from a faulty disc. I have it on my desk, it's open and get's plenty of ventilation. The power brick is not on carpet, to prevent static.

Buy a PS3 /trolol

Wrong. My Elite got the RRoD. But it doesn't matter since it still works anyway.

Uh what
RROD is a hardware error usually caused by weak soldering (or weakened soldering caused by overheating or something), how does a "faulty disc" contribute to that?

I have one, just put it on a wood desk NOT ON IT'S SIDE and it won't overheat for months.

Or, just store it in a cool area, like your basement. Mine has always been on its side and the only time we ever had problems was in the summer when my parents opened every window and turned on the A/C on a day where it was like a hundred degrees out.

Mine has always ran like really cool. I could cool my hands with it if I wanted to. As long as you don't store in some closed cupboard or on cloth or such, you will be fine.

It is inevitable, lol.

Elite is best, IMO. When I first got it I constantly used it and it didnt overheat. Then again, I had it in an open area

But you still get Red Rings for stuff like that.
