Author Topic: Drop Pod  (Read 4213 times)

I will work on it. By the way, its meant to look like those drop pods in halo cause i have no idea what a different one would look like.

thats a halo droppod. it has some resemblence, but it doesnt look a ton like it.

maybe you could make it so u could drive the ball lol
it falls like a rock

been there done that, its movable. lol

Here's my idea for how it should work:

Upon creation, the pod will not move (or fall). It will spawn facing downward. When a player enters it, text appears saying "Press <a key> to launch" in the center of the screen. Once the key is pressed, the pod will spawn a small nondestructive explosion at the top and will rocket downward. While in flight, it can be steered VERY slowly. If it impacts another pod, both will explode and kill their passengers. Once it impacts anything solid, it will spawn a small destructive explosion, kick out the player, and spawn a decal of the pod stuck in whatever it hit (the pod will be removed and only the decal will remain). The decal will last for 10 seconds, then it will disappear like a corpse.

How's that sound? Or is some of this impossible to do in Blockland?

But it would have to be created on a vehicle spawn, and it would be facing downwards into the spawn. It would have to be spawned sideways.

I think you should just have to push your forward key.
It would also overwrite existing custom keybinds.

While in flight, it can be steered VERY slowly. If it impacts another pod, both will explode and kill their passengers.

The pod should be steerable(?) enough to avoid collision with another pod; and the exploding pods should only kill players in a minigame using them.

Once it impacts anything solid, it will spawn a small destructive explosion, kick out the player, and spawn a decal of the pod stuck in whatever it hit (the pod will be removed and only the decal will remain). The decal will last for 10 seconds, then it will disappear like a corpse.

If it hits a wall you're most likely screwed; it shouldn't explode on impact; it won't need to spawn a decal, it could just keep a model that you can't get into stuck there and dissapear after 10 seconds.

Run-on sentences ftw.

Lol, everyones a critic, but I suppose that's a good thing...

I was thinking of a spaceship in which there were holes in the bottom where pods would be launched from. I see your logic though.

By <a key> I meant "insert key here". Sorry for the confusion.

Once again, since the pods were going straight down, not much steering seemed nessicary. I don't like the idea of a pod that can be steered like an airplane. I agree with the minigame theory though.

Never thought of it hitting a wall, good point. I'm not sure why I wanted it to explode on impact, so forget that. And, sorry, but my knowledge in the scripting and modeling area isn't sufficient to tell the difference between a model and a decal.  :cookieMonster:

Takes friggen forever to type on an iPad...

-longsnip-

i VERY much like that idea

Takes friggen forever to type on an iPad...

now try doing that on an iTouch  :cookieMonster:

Awesome idea:
Make a drop pod, but have an interactive drill on the bottom, and when you click, you activate it. It fake-kills bricks from 1x1 to 8x8, letting it go into buildings or underground.
What do you think?

i think no.
you asked, i answered simple as that.

This topic doesn't deserve to be on the second page!

*Bump*

That's better!  :cookieMonster:

ok so were basically hitting a roadblock. we have an idea, we just need someone to make it lol.  i would model it, but i suck and it would look terrible so yea.....

I could, but I'll need some motivation...

And a decent scripter!  :cookieMonster:

If anyone decides to make this, make the collision box cover from the top to about 1/3 of the drop pod, leaving the bottom without collision, so when it hits the ground, it will look as if it smashed into the ground.

Er...

You guys know drop pods aren't really controllable right? They just fall like a brick. ;o
Those from halo has some steering cause of a jet engine/rocket
