Not everyone has Steam. Not everyone wants to wait for people to login to Steam. Not everyone wants to have to run two programs at once, especially if they are in fullscreen. Maybe we want minigame specific chat. Maybe we don't want randoms inviting others to the chat. Maybe we want better control of chat.

If you listened to the podcast, we quite clearly mentioned how mute features would work. I mean, come on Pulchritude. You don't strike me as being stupid, but even a monkey would know that a mute feature, the bum basics of a chat system, would be in place. You could opt out of the chat, or mute specific players.

I don't think TGE has built-in audio streaming, but it wouldn't be hard to add using pre-existing libraries.
