Author Topic: Computer's fan being loud.  (Read 2573 times)

My computer's fan starts to spin loudly in small, oft bursts. It has RAM to spare, a good processor and a nearly empty, large hard drive. It starts to wheeze when I'm doing fairly light-weight tasks such as doodling in PDN or loading a web-page. Have I just not noticed it's volume or is there a problem?

My computer does that too. I just ignore it.
It's especially bad when I'm loading something.
It goes KSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHH

I can't even hear my computer when it's on.

Grab an aerosol can and spray out the dust or something.

It's fairly new, but a useful suggestion nonetheless. I'll check it out.

Turn it into a Pretzel so David Hasselhoff will cut his fingers on it.

Which fan specifically?

I don't really know. This is a prebuilt unit that I haven't even seen the interior of.

you are the worst person

All fans are loud.
Unless you get one that's supposed to be silent or if you have a old/cheap computer.
I believe that the reason is that when loading or doing simple tasks, the CPU heats up(that's what the main cause of the noise is) and it speeds up to keep it cool. You should check to see if it hits something of if dust builds up.

It the fan vent with a bat.

That would only make it louder, silly.

Wait, are your fans just in the back? If they are, allow more airflow.
Mine are so silent because I have 4, 2 on the sides, and 2 in the back.

My fans are only extremely loud when my GPU is doing something, or when I'm running CPU-intensive stuff (InkScape zoomed in to an extreme level, any game for the most part). Plus, there's a spot where the CPU fan makes this horrible buzzing sound (usually 50% speed, goes away after a few seconds).

Since you said it happens in Paint.NET, it's probably the same problem I have.
