Author Topic: Why is my computer running slowly?  (Read 3160 times)

This computer isn't even a year old yet, and it is running TERRIBLY. I went to play Garrys Mod, and the frame rate was like 6. I used to run it at 25 fps. My internet is slowing down also. What is this?

How long has your computer been on so far?

I never turned it off...

 :cookieMonster:

I only shut it off like if I install an update. I just close the computer and it goes into sleep mode when not in use.

Edit: Damnit I just ripped my caps lock off.

I don't know anything about this so I'm just gonna go ahead and blurt out
"Processor failure"?

Almost certainly a virus.

Then turn it off for a few minutes. It'll clear out any used temporary memory.

Ctrl alt delete, go to performance and check your CPU usage. then go to resource monitor > Overview > CPU, then sort the listed items by Average. It's possible you have a process that is eating up CPU usage which in extreme cases can cause programs to shut down due to all the CPU's power going to whatever process is taking it up. If it's a virus, use Avast. If it's something else, stop that process while you play games.

Specs on your PC?

I recommend turning your computer off and back on, then if that does not help, use your virus scanner.

17%  CPU usage.

Intel Celeron T3000 Dual Core 1.8 GHz

Intel something graphics

4gb ram

I have 150GB of my hard drive used, and I only have 100 GB left. Could that be the problem?

Is GoogleUpdate.exe in there?
