Author Topic: Lotus Elise; Yay or Nay?  (Read 1868 times)

i want one of these one day. They cost 30,000 - 50,000$ with around 1,500 - 2,000$ per month on insurance. Heres how I see it. When I turn 16 I go work at BI-LO. I work 15-20 hours a week with 7-8$ a hour pay. Lets say I work 15. 15x7 is like 105 a week. I will also carry bags out for people which i hear can give great tips. I know a few people that make more money on tips than they do their actual pay, so lets substitute my tips as like 100 a week. This would be around 200 a week, at the least. 30,000/200 = 150. Thats like 3/5 of a year to pay for the actual car, if i can get one used. I might get a new which will add about 15,000 to it, which will take the rest of the year. So I'd be able to get on possibly at 16 or 17. Good idea or keep dreaming?

Even though I have no interest in cars whatsoever, you can keep saving.
You'll get it eventually if you don't get fired.

Yay.

They have a few Elise's in Toronto, near my city, at a place called Gentry Lane. I got to test drive a black one since I have my G1 (I'm 16)...

Intense amounts of fun to drive. My dad was in the car with me while I was driving around the streets and he was giggling with joy. When we pulled over to trade seats, he was laughing his ass off as he was driving. He loves the car, and so do I. But if you're looking for practicality, comfort and safety, nay.

It's small, and the airbag system isn't like a regular car's. It's also got a tiny trunk and the seats feel like they are made of wood. It's also a two seater. Have fun when you get kids.

All in all if you want it for stuffs and giggles, go head. Or maybe save up for their new model...

... The Evora. <333

forget safety, I just wanna look cool  :cookieMonster:
That and its a great deal for such a nice car

If you're so focused on looks why don't you just buy a kit car?

Get a $5-6k Lotus Elise body and just mount it to a car that fits it, maybe like a Pontiac Sunfire or something.

Did I mention it's also decent for performance? It's got a Toyota straight-6 in it. It's lifted from one of their stuffty SUV's or something... but it's lightweight, so it can handle well. 0-60 in 5 seconds, top speed of 135MPH.

The Elise?

Didn't mean to say stuff, meant to say decent. I was thinking ahead at the moment of writing that about their stupid engine.

Ah. Well it looks beast lol the only thing I dislike is only 2 seats. Well forget, kids, tie a wagon to the back!

There aren't many other nice cars you can get for 30-50k :-)

Ok...and what can you do with a small tank? They're not exactly road legal.

Can't be no more illegal than driving a racing car 135mph down the highway  :cookieMonster:

That car made me cum bricks.
