Author Topic: Server Style Suggestion: Robloxian-Like Server  (Read 2952 times)

OK, I know the Robloxian add-on was already released. What I mean by Robloxian Style server is the following:
Notice that in Blockland whenever a projectile blows up some weak bricks, right? Right! But also notice that when that weak brick breaks, like if it has other bricks that are smaller than that brick on top of it, they stay where they are, they don't fall along with the rest of the bricks that were killed by the projectile. So, if a Blockland server was like a Robloxian Style server, if an entire floor of a building just got destroyed by a projectile, all the bricks on that floor would be killed, causing the bricks that were on top of them to fall! If you linked up the Robloxian player add on, the default minigame add on, AND the Robloxian Style server add on, your server would function just like a Robloxian server! If you do not understand me, that's too bad. I often do not explain things correctly, so get over it. D:<

Um, I see what you are saying, that is probably the only thing I like about Roblox more than Blockland, if that game weren't infested with whiny children, I would probably still play. We need an event; onBrickFakeKilled.

We need an event; onBrickFakeKilled.
That's a real great idea and all, but we'll also need an Output event, maybe even an output parameter(s). Of course, I'm not sure what they should be, but I'm sure someone will think about it.

Unfortunately that's not how Blockland works;

Physics in Blockland aren't server side, they're client side, they're just a special effect that looks neat, they don't have any actual bearing on the game world. I don't even have physics enabled because I think it's a waste of processing power. So what you're asking, is that if supports were destroyed, a building would fall. For those without physics enabled, we would simply see the whole building blow up as if it were deleted, which isn't a good way to convey destruction of a building. Even those with phys enabled may only see a portion of the bricks actually enter physics mode. To do what you want, Blockland would need server-side physics, which is a HUGE upgrade to the engine.

That's a real great idea and all, but we'll also need an Output event, maybe even an output parameter(s). Of course, I'm not sure what they should be, but I'm sure someone will think about it.
try fakekill? it is an output event

that and i prefer the old way, as the fake killed bricks sometimes block my vision

try fakekill?
Dude, I meant input, I am not stupid. It would work like so:

OnBrickFakeKilled>Self>FireRelay
OnRelay>Self>FireRelay
OnRelay>Self>FireRelayUp
OnRelay>Self>FakeKillBrick

Duplicated for all bricks, although it wouldn't work well with big builds.

FFFFFFFFFI need to read better.

heh, the way roblox ppl die makes me want my blockhead to do the same, shatter to peices :P

Uuhh....I think I see what your saying. That when you shoot a projectile as a robloxian, at a buildings base, then the rest of the bricks on top of it fall. And that you can apply this to your own server? If this was a add-on, I probaly wouldnt download it, due to the fact that I and a loyalist to Blockland.

Tell me if I got it right, noobie

I'm not voting in that poll; it's loving stupid.

You can like Roblox features without liking the game. Really

You can like Roblox features without liking the game. Really
Don't mind him.

I know, Im just saying I wont download it, You can if you want to!
Don't mind him.
forget you, 3D glasses hater

What's loving hilarious is the only comeback you will give is either submission or some random insult that has no meaning and only displays immature aggression in an attempt to provoke someone who doesn't give a stuff.
You're also stupid enough to think that he thought you were saying that he liked the game. That's COMPLETELY irrelevant. He was telling you that you were stupid because you 'liked features of a game that you hated', a rather contradictory statement.

You just bumped this as well, making you a hypocrite. This actually poses no meaning as bumping a topic only really causes issues if the topic is really old. This topic is two minutes old. You're stupid.
