Author Topic: I need a good game making program.  (Read 1174 times)

Well, I want to make some kind of 3D zombie shooter game, but I can't find a decent game making program. I have Game Maker, but it doesn't exactly have the right material for good 3D stuff. Any suggestions?

Source SDK
But you'll need steam and at least one source game first. (Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and Portal 2 do not count)

You can easily make 3D games in Game Maker. Problem is Game Maker can't render a lot of TRUE 3D models and their collision isn't the most accurate. If you know how to code properly though, it's possible.

I heard source is heavy on CPU or something.

I'm not much of a coder, so it would be a little complicated.

LOL
NO
I have an intel quad core and I can run all of them at max fps always.
its from 2004, and even macs can run it.
Also, making a source mod requires little to no coding if your just making levels with zombies in them.

Yeah it's a bit tricky. You can actually use bump mapping in Game Maker instead of linedefs but I'm not quite sure how to.

source also has bump maps
and phong

The problem is that my computer won't run ANY Source games I'm pretty sure.

I don't know what linedef or bump mapping is. Huehue.

Also if you still don't want to use GM I recommend Torque Engine. It's pretty dam outdated and sells for a lot but it gets the job done. I want it but I'm not paying 300+ dollars for that engine.

Game maker 8 Pro

God you're stupid.

I have the stufftiest processor ever and Source games only use about half of it.

To make this easier, I want to make something have somewhat the graphics like in Dead Frontier (Or better.), but first person and stuff.

Graphics isn't a lot to go by. Any engine can support good graphics as long as if the computer can handle them. Also like I said, Torque Engine.

Costs a lot. :C
