Author Topic: Broken Picture Telephone - Revival  (Read 8446 times)

I used to love this site. :D

I remember when it was first starting to die, and all the games were broken because the server was being over loaded. So you would join a game and you would always get a blank image to describe. Twas a sad day, I really hope this gets revived.

Ya... Nothing was working anymore... sucked...

Oh.
Well, it was great.

You were speaking about the topic subject, right?

Here is an alternative I am working on based on Silverlight:

www.picturetelephone.net

Try it out, and I'd really appreciate if you give me some comments!
It's my first web project, so don't have high expectations though :)

Oh man, I wish I was around for this game. It looks like a lot of fun.

Ah, yours seems to work generically... There's no vertical scroll. It's very limited it seems, and starting out so small will likely lead to how the only one there has ended up: broken by some idiot.

It was... It was amazing.

Thanks for the feedback Mega, it's very encouraging to hear other people's opinions at this stage, whether good or bad.

My next big update on the site will add a comment and rating system; hopefully it will be up in the next day or two, and I will make sure to add a vertical scroll bar in an even sooner update. I would immensely appreciate if you could tell me if anything else seemed to turned you off from the interface or functionality of the site, or any suggestions you might have that could help me out as I strive to improve it. I am truly learning the craft as I go, and I am starting to realize that the hardest work in this type of project is not making it simply "work", but making it enjoyable to use.

Again, thanks. I will do my best not to break anything. :)

Remembering which games you were already in or if you might respond to your own last panel. Being so small right now, I was able to go to my own descriptions and images, then write exact descriptions and such.

Also, the original had a 10 minute timer... Although that feature disturbed me, it does help regulate usage so people don't idle out on theirs and permanently pause the page.

Thanks, I will be sure to implement all of these features on my next update. The problem is the person who usually helps me out with server-side changes is currently in a different timezone (with a 7 hour difference), but i will do my best to wake him up and get him on the job again..

I updated it with a few more features, and I would appreciate if you guys told me what you think, and use it!

Again, the link is: www.picturetelephone.net

I am still working on improving it.

Thanks.

Well aren't you dedicated? o.o I agree, everyone go!

Thanks for the support. :)

Thanks for the support. :)

What if the official one finally is made?

Regardless of the future state of bpt.com, I will continue working on picturetelephone.net and will be making  improvements in user experience and site quality, as well as additional features I always felt were missing from the original bpt site. When I get to it (I am currently busy studying for exams), I will work on  creating a robust social networking system as an important part of the site (features will include a user profile page where users can comment on your work, friend lists, private games, and more). I believe that a website like this is fueled by good functionality, but is truly kept alive by a lively community which enjoys playing together.

To answer your question, I have high ambitions for this project, and I think it truly can go a long way beyond bpt.com.

Well, it's sad not many people seem to care...
