Uh yes it does. Rendering desktop icons uses ram and obviously it loving worked if it freed up ram space. Stop trying to act as if you're a loving know it all and that you need to prove me wrong at every opportunity.

EDIT: Although uninstalling programs doesn't quite make sense now that you mention it. I needed the hard drive space anyways.

Umadbro?

Umadbro?

Because you couldn't come up with a legit argument? Mkay.

Anyhow I'm not in the mood for debating so someone please do explain to me what the hell is game booster?

Basically, it disables most other processes that aren't the game that you are using it to "boost."

Because you flipped stuff when I was right to begin with

Because you flipped stuff when I was right to begin with

Then why the hell did removing desktop icons free up 0.4 gigs of ram?

And like I said, I'm not in the mood for debating so stop trying to pick a fight with me.

Actually, rendering desktop icons does use very little RAM. Just as much as opening a folder with a bunch of stuff in it. The reason your PC went from 1.8 GB of RAM to 1.2 when deleting stuff is because it had to use that RAM to transfer files over to the recycle bin and delete it. Again, I know this because my RAM got raped when I tried to delete a bunch of videos I took of Blockland (well over 4 GB). Plus, there's a lot of cached stuff in the RAM, probably.

Plus, you're probably using Windows Vista or Windows 7, so of course it's going to use a bunch of RAM. It's a modern OS, there's plenty of RAM, it's going to use a bit of it until it has to give it up for other programs.

Basically, what I'm saying is, it's not a virus or anything, nothing to freak out over.

Thanks.

If you took the time that Miga took to actually explain stuff to me I'd respect you more instead of you just saying that I'm wrong. I know I'm probably wrong which is why the thread's title has loving "Help" in it.

If i might jump in here... Deleting just icons do not free up ram whatsoever. The only time an icon will use any ram is when you see it by your clock because obviously there is a program running in the background associated with that icon.

And apparently you didn't read the thread at all.

A little late there.

Actually sorry to double post but I'm going to conduct an experiment. I'm going to create a stuff load of desktop icons and see how much ram it uses.

EDIT: forget you were sorta right

It gave me only like a 0.07 gig boost.

Although I'm not sure if the experiment was legit though because all the icons were shortcuts to Blender.

I read that idiotic remark

I read that idiotic remark

Because I'm taking observations and stating them? Please do explain to me why that occurred. Also look at the post above. I conducted an experiment.

solution - install windows xp
it doesn't eat up even half a gigabite for me

Solution - Don't use a computer. or get a better one.

So you're saying I should get more ram with 32 bit can only read 4 gigs or ram? That makes total sense!

And if you're referring to my other specs, they're pretty high end except my cpu which is only a dual core 2.9ghz.

And at the first "solution", hue hue.
